Red face Civil Engineering ME 214

I was just curious if anyone had any useful info in regards to ME 214: Statics.

I'll be taking it in fall 04 with Mariappan, and any info regarding his classwork/midterms would be GREAT.

Thanks.

congratulations u got a good teacher (from what i hear). I had Hauser and it was pretty hard class. The average fail rate for the class is over %50 so good luck. you might find some helpful information here.

Wow... I could not thank you enough for the link to that one webpage By any chance, do you know if the sixth edition questions are the same for the seventh edition?

they are the same questions but with different numbers/answers and stuff. scan those pdfs for the same picture as your book. I found that most if not all are in there. It also beats straight copying since you need to learn it at least a little bit ;o

I am also taking ME 214. I hear from my 3rd year friend that Izadi is a good teacher. I was in his 7:45am (wow?) class but I kept checking broncodirect and a spot opened in the class he teaches right after that which is the same class at 9:15. I never know who to trust on that goodbadtenured.com shat.

I had difficulty in deciding whether or not to take Mariappan or Izadi because of the equally negative/positive remarks that I have heard/read about these two professors. If you hear anything else about Izadi let me know so I could switch professors =)

Yikes, thats a big load. Hopefully you have decent teachers for all 4 of those classes

I'm sure ce 220 won't be too hard, I'm taking it as well with Clark. =D

I just finished a ME214, where Izadi used to sub in. He is excellent and explaining the concepts. I recommend it!

I actually took ME214, MAT215, MAT216 all at the same time this last quarter and was able to do it. They're all different types of math, so you won't get that confused...

Your schedule shouldn't be too bad as long as you don't got a job or some big obligation... PHY and ME take lots of time on homework, so be prepared for 3-6 hours of homework each. Also, i recommend the ME224L class, its an extra lab class you can go to and ask questions... and the teacheres reinforce the concepts of ME214. It's not required for many engineers, except MEs... but... its still very helpful!
