Default Sleep Hours

I hate to say this but the Cal Poly Post was wrong for asking only students who study only 1 or 2 hours for the finals, which does not accurately resemble us in general. I was sleeping four hours a day on average during that week. This school shouldn't be portrayed as a bunch of people who just crave for partying. Let's remember this esoteric school motto: vigor before studying!

"Sleepness nights, have a lot fun dealing with CS."

I'm one of those people that do awful on an exam if you don't get enough sleep. 6 hours of sleep and I finished the finals without a sweat.

Does anyone know how you get selected to be on the Poly Post poll?

I personally studied only about 2 hours for my finals, I only had 12 units this quarter... and two hard finals chemistry 122, and ME215. I'm a good test taker in general... and already had good grades in the class so I didn't need to get too good of a grade. I do agree though... 1-2 hours is a little bit of a small poll. Specially since it's not really fair to people who are english majors versus chemistry majors... a lot of english classes don't even have finals that require studying.

yeah - the poly post poll (campus voice) is selected randomly on campus. at any time during the day, somebody goes out and interviews people at random (it is called m.o.s. - man on the street). they are supposed to be looking for a wide range of people - males, females, different ages, ethnicities and majors.

i myself only studied for one class and that was for about three hours in a group. i always stick by the idea that if i haven't learned the material by the time the final comes around - chances are i am never going to learn it by cramming for the final. besides most of my finals are easy as long as i attended class all quarter and kept up on my homework because i am a communication major. i very rarely read my text books either - because most of the teachers in the comm dept. do a pretty good job of presenting the materials in class.

so continuing - the post doesn't necessarily look for students to give a certain answer - they just ask students in different demographics their opinions and that is what gets printed in the paper.

also - a lot of students who are interviewed for that section like to say things that seem stupid or "cool" because it will end up in the paper.
