| Active Member | the problem is: A mail-order house uses 18,000 boxes a year. Carrying costs are .60 cents per box a year, and ordering costs are $96. the following price schedule applies. Determine: A) the optimal order quantity (EOQ) Number of boxes/price per box 1000-1999.......$1.25 2000-4999.........1.20 5000-9999.........1.15 10000 or more....1.10 I was using the square root of 2DS over H equation but i get the answer as 2400, but in the back of the book it says 5000 boxes. is there something im missing or not seeing? any help would be great

After you get the EOQ for it, you need check other price bracket to see if you can get better price. Also you need do EOQ for each of the price structure to make sure ( he wants you to show that). | |
