Exclamation Laptop question for students at Cal Poly SLO

Hi there, I'm trying to decide between two different notebooks and I was wondering how much you actually use your laptop in class, if at all, and how much you use it wireless around campus. My major is Construction Management. One of the notebooks has a desktop processor so it's battery life is 1-1.5 hrs. The other has a laptop processor and it's battery life is 2+ hrs. They're not much different in price but I'd like to know if I need one that has a longer battery life or not. Thanks.

In my undergraduate program (business), I never used my notebook during class and I rarely used it on campus. Computer labs are conveniently located in main areas of the campus and most of them had Microsoft Office suites to work on my papers.

It really depends whether your professors require a notebook for the construction management course. I believe CIS and CS students use industry standard software during class lectures and students prefer using their notebook than the class workstation.

I would go with the mobile CPU that manages battery life better and something that is light and mobile. I like the 12"/13" laptops.

What's your major? I'm a second year ME now and never brought my computer to class. Having a computer is nice for typing phrases, but not so nice for writing down equations. However, if I had a touch screen computer, then maybe I would take my notes down on that. However, I need to be able to write equations and such down for most of my classes and thus why I take all my notes on paper .

I just ordered an Eee PC yesterday.. it's only 10", but has like 7 hours of battery time, plus it's small and light enough to fit in a backback.
