Default GradeCalPoly.com needs a simpler Design?

Kaycee has suggested a wonderful idea in a similiar thread for a new layout for gradecalpoly.com. I wanted to check the consensus of the students before i went ahead and changed everything.

So, two choices:
1) You like the current design, and want nothing major changed.
2) You want a major overall and want everything simpler.

Currently envisioned change is similiar to google's setup. A blank page with a search field in the middle to input a teacher's name to search for. All other "clutter" will be removed, what do you think? Drop your thoughts here if you have anything to add.

PandaMoOo, we don't want you to overwork and miss out on what is more important to you.
It was a suggestion but if you are willing to work on it, more power to you!

Overwork? Hah! Darn budget cuts and only havng 12 units this quarter... 12 units SPREAD OVER FIVE DAYS!! It's horrible. The more things I have to do with my time the less bored I will get

Although... i plan to do the bulk of the work on christmas break, because I have many other projects unrelated to websites on my hand already.

If you don't mind I'd like to give the redesign a shot. I've been beefing up my knowledge of website usability and interface design, so I could use the practice to see if I can implement what I've read. At my present job I don't get much of a chance to design anything. That way we both win -- I get some of the experience I need and you are freed up to do some more masterful programming.

That would be really swell Zoedragon! I am by far much more impressed with your ideas then my own, specialization makes us much more effective and efficent.

When I get back to my main computer on monday I'll e-mail you the header I had my graphics man put together and show you in pictures what I currently envision, from that we can make a dialogue and carry on from there.

On a sidenote, I have started working on text-message/e-mail notification of when classes open; but I want to make it complete before release and am currently in that "end of the quarter crunch." I promise it'll be done before christmas, in time for late registration.

Thanks iKwak! Very quick at posting it you were! I knew they were writing a story about it, I proved tiny bits of information which they didn't really use. It's nice to get a little recognition and see what people think of something me and Zoe worked so hard to put together. I'd pretty much have to agree with almost the entire article... although, I'd be a little critical of the author.

Note: The report slander button is for reporting comments that are racial/distasteful/completely useful/slanderous comments, not for 'reporting fallacies.' I make no aims to check statements for truth/fact, I am not around to judge people on what they view, and to be a definitive source of truth. GradeCalPoly.com is a source of student OPINONs about teachers. (Just like the grades we get our often the work of the teachers OPINONs of us. )

But party on! Great article except that weird thing about report slander link!

Wow, "known throughout campus"! Very nice!

I'm glad they like the refurbishing "under the hood". They'll like it even more once we get the surface redesign in place!
