Default New Grading Scale Needed?

As many here know, my current grading scale is quite unique. I aimed to try and make a very easily quantifiable grading scale, by using words such as "amazing" and "satisfactory" and "needs improvement" for example, I was hoping people would give much better, carefully thought out grades. The problem with this idea is it's too complex I fear for students to use!

Although I think it may lose some information, the benefits of switching to a tradional A/B/C/D/F scale would be greater because it'd be easier to read since we've all been brainwashed with those grades already. Also it'd add a touch I think to grade instructors back the way we grade them.

The four different catergories will remain under this new plan. Please vote on the poll to voice your opinon! Changes will be made by Sunday the 17th, if the vote swings that way.

Thanks!

AOSNU... i had NO IDEA what these acronyms were until u spelled them out. I feel that these are superior ONLY if they are spelled out when students give the reviews.

I've voted for the second option. Students are already comfortable with the A,B,C grades and AOSNU will confuse students unless they find out what the acronym means. Statistics show that web surfers stay a maximum of 10 or so seconds at a new webpage. Within the 10 or so seconds, if they know how to navigate and like what they see in the website, they stick around longer but if not, they move on. Of course, loading time, advertisements, contents, contrasting colors, and etc. is also a factor.
In this case, the above list does not matter since the students need the information that gradecalpoly.com has to offer.

Yeah... and i'm beginning to think that although AOSNU may be better at representing grades. ABCDF is just so much easier for everyone, its not good to impose AOSNU on others.

It's currently 8-0 on the poll. So i went ahead and made the switch over to ABCDF grading scheme. I may have been crazy to do otherwise. Thanks for the feedback!

Should the Categories still remain in the Grade.asp page?

I don't understand? The categories are nescessary to still determine what "Knowledge" and etc all mean.... ?

Quote:

T for Teaching Ability - How good is the instructor is at conveying the class material to students.
F for Friendliness - How friendly, personable, and fair the instructor is.
C for Challenging - How much the instructor is able to motivate students to do their best.

Grades:
A for Amazing - Met and far exceeded requirements.
B for Outstanding - Met and exceeded requirements.
C for Satisfactory - Met requirements.
D for Needs Improvement - Almost met requirements.
F for Unacceptable - Not close to meeting requirements.
Did you mean Grades?
