Default New layout for GradeCalPoly.com

Hi PandaMoOo, I've asked three colleagues today for their feedback on GradeCalPoly.com. All three of them told me that they like the previous (GoodBadTenured.com) website rather than the current site (GradeCalPoly.com). Why is that I asked. The layout was much simpler.

I thought about it and I have a new suggestion for you PandaMoOo. Why not make the index page similar to Google.
Place a nice searchbox right in the center.
Students type in the professor name in the box and hit enter. The website will spit out the search results and display the professor evaluations. And the students have the option to add their own evaluation by clicking on a "Grade A Professor" link.

Google is very popular and one of the factor is that the front index page is very simple to use and concise in design. People type in whatever they want to search for and wah lah! Lot of times, students want things right away and making the frontpage concise will benefit all students and professors

Just a thought. What do others think?

That is so damn crazy it is brilliant! I like that...

It's kind of scary to ponder about what is going to happen when all the colors and design disappear. It's almost scary! I'll turn this thread into a poll/change title to lure more people here... so we can get a wider consesus.

But I fully agree... simpler is better. I was thinking... since people jump off the index page rather quickly, why not make the entire site much simpler? There's little need for all the tables and junk I got going on. Some of the more complex features/settings may need to be reskinned so they match the simple interface, but that'll be pretty easy I figure.

So! Everybody... drop your thoughts what you think!

(sorry about taking a day to respond, i somehow missed new items in my own forum.)
