Name of Event: 2nd Annual ASI Photo Contest “Say Cheese!!”- Accepting Submissions
Date: Now – May 14
Location: Bronco Student Center, PRSM Department Room 2325
Brief Description: Open to interpretation, this year’s theme is “Say Cheese!!” The competition is open to Cal Poly Pomona students. Entries must represent the theme. Only one photograph per person and must not be older than 3 years. Entries must be 8x10 inches and may be color, black & white, and digital. For more information, email artintern@ asi.csupomona.edu. Winning entries will be announced at the show opening May 27th and will have their entries displayed in the Bronco Student Center’s Bronco Exhibit Gallery.


Name of Event: Student Government Candidate Open Forum
Date: April 27

Brief Description: Elections are coming soon! Come listen to the 2004-05 candidates speak on issues they think are important to students of Cal Poly Pomona. Participate and ask questions to those whom may be representing you as ASI President and more!

Name of Event: API Heritage Month: Why do you pray? Religious Influence on Asia and the Pacific Islands
Date: April 29
Time: 11:30am-1pm
Location: Bronco Student Center, Ursa Minor Suite
Brief Description: An expert panel representing the religions of Islam, Catholicism, Buddhism and Hinduism will speak on their religion’s influence on Asia and the Pacific Islands in terms of cultural and social development. On the evening of April 30, 2004, lights will be dimmed, the audience will be anxious, and the actors and actresses will be in the SPOTLIGHT. The Asian and Pacific Islander Theater Group will stage "Broken Images." Name of Event: Arabian Horse Show

Location: W.K. Kellogg Arabian Horse Center
Brief Description: Learn about the history of W.K. Kellogg and his love of Arabian horses including riding and skill demonstrations from Cal Poly Pomona students.


Name of Event: Now Chinatown – Film Showing
Date: May 3
Time: 3-5p.m.
Location: Bronco Student Center, Ursa Major Suite A&B
Brief Description: Steven Dunning’s film, released in 2002, is about a young girl who is sent to America to work to support her family in China. In grappling with her Chinese traditions, she struggles to become independent and make a difference as an immigrant. The film has received reviews by major media outlets such as the Hollywood Foreign Press and The Los Angeles Times. It has also garnered a number of awards such as Best Picture by the Long Island International Film Expo and Grand Jury Prize at the New York Independent Film Festival. Dunning will visit campus May 4th at the same location and times to discuss his film. For more information, call ASI BEAT at x3374.

Brief Description: Independent filmmaker and producer/writer/director/actor of feature film “Now Chinatown,” Steven Dunning will be discussing his film on topics ranging from the production of films to the marketing of movies. The event is being sponsored by Associated Students, Inc. Bronco Events and Activities Team and Professor J. Swartz of the International Business and Marketing Department.
