![]() | kentucky and alabama wont hire them. they would fire the ad if the program with that prestigie hire a div II coach plus booster have alot of say in the program. this is getting ridicilous for people putting coach k name in consideration for some big time name program. For a mid major school i will believe. I love coach k ability to state my opinion on coach k |

![]() | jay, you are wrong on this one. there are very, very few coaching vacancies this year--the smallest number i can remember. lakdod is right and billy is smoking something. kentucky and alabama are way out of his league...for now anyway. his best and maybe only shot is on our sister campus. but they are looking at guys from the pac ten not from the ccaa. chances are slim. the other jobs? here they are: VCU--but coach has no virginia connections, no way. elon--where and what is that? not a chance. appalachian state--uh, beat michigan in football but no interest in our guy. boston u--terriers MIGHT take a peek since coach is in springfield now. small, very small chance. SLO--maybe if they get off their high horse. UT-PA--this actually could be coach's BEST shot. they are a DI independent that plays bakersfield. but would our guy go there? |

![]() | that was an outstanding pickup, x-man. you like lakdod know your basketball. aha, the university of texas-pan american. they have had quite a few "academic issues" over the years and if that campus president is stressing this piece on the athletic director there coach k. might be a serious player. and unlike SLO there's not a particularly long line of suiters flying in from pac ten schools. it was noted over on the mustang board that tim floyd "dropped in" to lobby for his top assistant, bob cantu. now jim harrick (remember him...the last bruin coach to win the DI title?) says he's interested. will john wooden himself be next to advocate his pick or just ben howland? i still think coach k. has a better shot than you do x man. you can't argue about his academic profile and that's what brings support from campus presidents who weigh in heavily on these high profile hires. agree that only boston's terriers might be a remote shot for coach, UTPA a serious look and CPSLO IMO his best one. i predicted he would be gone were he to make the final four. but in light of so few openings and so many big names looking i'm not so sure now. we might just keep him for another year or two. the mustang board sez coach interviewed for both the EWU (big sky) and WKU (sun belt) posts. |

![]() | You guys are right, there are so few openings in college basketball. Elon does look interesting though. I can see him ending up there, but SLO is looking to make a quick big name hire, so our mastermind coach might not get a look. His impressive performance today probably earned him a few looks at some schools but we shall see within the next few weeks.

![]() | ELON, N.C. – Elon University Director of Athletics Dave Blank introduced Matt Matheny, a member of the Davidson College men’s basketball coaching staff the past 16 years, as the Phoenix’s 17th head men’s basketball coach during a press conference held Sunday afternoon in the Koury Athletic Center’s Atkins Room on the Elon campus. Since Elon is gone, any other suggestions? ![]()

![]() | that would not be a good fit for either side and never was in the mix. i think coach k. would take the boston university job but he has no ties to that region other than through coach bannon who would join him. not likely. texas-pan am is doubtful. gym is a barn like ours, weak league, weak academics, hard to recruit there. that leaves only our mustang friends on the central coast where i think he's a perfect fit. but will they get off the DI pipedream? and for that matter has coach k. even applied for the job? |

![]() | SLO will not hire a D2 guy. Sad, but they will not get off their high horse over there. Coach K will not sell his soul and a hold a clip board as an asst for a D1 program to become a head coach of a D1 program. He is content at the D2 level if thats the case. HOWEVER he would like to be somewhere he is treated like the elite coach he is, given a good amount of resources to win, and can get top players in his program without a fight every time. ... As we know CPP is everything but what I mentioned, so we shall see what happens..

![]() | two guys mentioned strongly are DI guys that coach k. beat on the floor with supposely inferior talent. one amazingly is the seattle coach who barely could beat lowly chico state with a supposedly greater team as a DI. the other is brad holland who coach k. also whupped when we played USD. then there is the former billiken coach who could not even win at DIII--but hey, they play some other kind of sport as soon as they add the name DI to their name, don't they? if so, how did the pacific tigers get so good with a hire from stanislaus? |

![]() | Okay we know coach k is being interview for some stuff. We don't know how its going. Remember during the pep rally they said hopefully we will have coach k back for next season. I actually think slo has not hire the seattle coach yet it seem like he went down to slo for an interview and it seem like coach k did interview or is for the slo job. Side note sc job might be open if floyld goes to arizona. Sc job can open a can of worms. Mark few of gonzaga might be a possibility replacement at sc along with other west coast team. Also wazzu job is open you would think they would like a west cost guy to. It should be interesting few weeks. |

![]() | read today's seattle times. the redhawk coach is on the central coast now awaiting the morning's press conference. horrible hire for the mustangs. they could have done way better. this guy hasn't won anything at any level. had a losing record for university of puget sound even. |

![]() | it was a great hire for SLO, you know why, because that creates more movement on the westcoast which can only benefit who... yeah your right.. our guy! Formula.. replace westcoast guys with other westcoast guys, then more mid majors will be open which can only benefit who.. ok now you guys are getting the point...

![]() | i talked with coach k. today. he never got even a phone call from SLO which is simply amazing. all coach did was produce an undefeated record against the two DI finalists he faced, joe callero and brad holland, and he had supposedly lower grade talent. he also was undefeated against both davis and bakersfield in their first year of DI and he beat north dakota state, a tournament team this year, in their first year of DI. add them up...that's an 8-0 record against this DI field. and his team GPA is around 3.3. apparently the SLO athletic director neither wanted a winner at the DI level or a leader who produces student athletes who double as leaders in the classroom. both the SLO sports blog site and the seattle times blog site are already bemoaning this as a very stupid hire--though the fans from the pacific northwest are glad to see their redhawk coach go. they saw very little in this guy. and they would be delighted, i am sure, to see greg kamansky arrive. and it could happen. he's not going to brownsville but he may be booking yet another flight to SEATAC very soon. |

![]() | as jay said the wazuu job goes to the portland st coach two days before it was reported. which leave now portland st and seattle as the only division I head coaching job available in the west coast with arizona and wazuu being filled. Here is the list of open jobs in division I appalachain st, georgia southern, Hampton, liberty, portland st, seattle, texas pan am, and xaiver |
