![]() | The Man, LG, was named to the region's first team and now advances to All American candidacy. Way to go, Coach K and Mr. Clean. i'm afraid we might lose both and not just one of you this year. SLO had another down year and Coach Bromley has been under fire for quite some time. Will the Mustangs make a move? and stay within the family? x-man any insights? you are close to the Big West scene. |

I have been calling Coach K a mastermind for the past couple of seasons and he finally has the hardware to prove it. He should take his hardware, the coaching staff, and his loyal fans to SLO where he can turn that program around. And who knows, maybe at SLO they will actually care about the basketball team, something CPP is lacking. Also, I just read Coach Olivers bio and it looks like he is a graduate of SLO and played bball there too. He might be the favorite to go back to his alma mater to coach. Hopefully Coach K will get the nod, but you never know how those AD's think. Congrats to Larry Gordon and Coach K for winning those awards!

![]() | hey a shout out to my old pal hall, good to hear from you dude and hope to see you at kellogg for the regional final. toros and broncos. time for payback. take care of business for the CCAA. i have followed big west basketball since starting grad school at fullerton and the mustangs suck. there was a lot of parity in the league this year, with riverside the big surprise. you are absolutely right that coach k. has waaaaay too much class for that crappy poor excuse for an athletic program at pomona, and if he were to leave that would be the end of the bronco run. just like what happened to the girls team a few years back and they did nothing since. broncos had girls softball that beat DI schools all day long so they shut that one down. mens soccer has been a mess. and the same collapse girls basketball has seen happened to the bronco baseball program back in the day, from national champions to nobodies. they have stunk ever since. but here's the straight scoop from san luis. faith mimbaugh has done almost nothing for the lady mustangs and yet she keeps hanging around. bromley has done almost nothing for the men's program but there must be something in the water or kool aide up there on the central coast to keep them hanging around. i really think jaybutt is right about coach k. if he takes this broken down team deep into the dance he will get noticed by mid majors looking to make a move. final four and he gets serious looks. national title and he's gone. at a minimum to a real D2 program like grand valley state that does it right but more likely to a struggling DI. why stay at a place where they have no webcast, no live stats, and can't even get the team's record correct? i hear he can't even schedule out of conference home games. no money. and alums like me refuse to give because the department keeps making idiotic personnel moves like the do nothing clown who replaced paul helms. so my checks go to titan athletics. and it sounds like i'm not alone. coach oliver was the starting point guard on the mustangs when they were moving up to DI back in the early 1990s. am told he was a scrappy don zimmer type of guy. just like he coaches. but once again he was no match for the john wooden of pomona. sometimes i think he can find five guys on a playground and find a way to bang and hang with almost anybody. bronco program gave up paul thomas, paul helms, hervey malone and as you say probably are doing nothing special to keep the only consistently winning program left. it makes you wonder where bronco basketball might be if we had a nice arena and a competent staff to support? winning it every year? a dynasty? or probably in the big west where it belongs? who's got the link to the game tonight? am not wasting my time looking for it on the bronco site since it doesn't exist. from the x-man. |
