| Active Member | Mildly BAD: Monemi - takes credit for others lesson plan and copies lectures from other teachers and book website and puts his name on it. pretty easy. BAD: Ferguson, prepare to copy in order just to pass. if you show you can do the work youll get an A, show up to class. lots of work because of how he worked in college. Mildly BAD: Oldak, hard instructor, only curves as much as the highest grade. someone gets a 98, you get 2 extra points. Good Lecturer, learn from him, just your gpa takes a hit. had him for tons of classes until my gpa couldnt take it anymore. love him or hate him. BAD: Riasati, good for 109 and very intelligent guy, just too busy hitting on girls to pay more attention to what he is doing. if you are his "homie" you get and A if not C. guess i wasnt his homie BAD: Hwang, this guy is smart as hell, helped develop technology that brought the internet to existence. cant teach and doesnt test on the material. GOOD: Lin (great guy, love this guy), Yin, Olson, Moussudi, Chandra (hard but learn)/like Oldak, Smith, Zeke (good on helping you, just makes errors on things often), Cockrum (for ece464 and 220/320, just make sure he teaches FET design), Nelson (good advisor as well), Fitzgerald (for power and lab), Hayden, Nise ( for Control), Huff , Kang (a genius and get every manual his writes) People who you hear are decent that ive never taken: El Naga, El Sawah (a robot lecturer, non stop for almost 2 hours and teaches more material then other professors think a intro class should have. but heard hes not that bad) in betweener: Cheng, weird grader. if he knows your name in class, calls on you. dont worry if he does. |

Practically everything said there is true... He spends 90% of class time facing the board while constantly confusing himself in example problems. Gives easy final tho (given the time allowance), grades on a curve (or so I believe, otherwise I doubt I'd have gotten an A-). Don't ever visit him during office hours. It's a waste of time.

First midterm is the easiest, while the second midterm is just harsh! Final is pretty tough, but not as tough as the second midterm. |

| Active Member | What class are you taking Davarpanah for? I took him for 204 and 341/341L. Be prepared to work hard in either class! His tests are VERY tough. You really have to understand the material WELL in order to do well on his tests. I think he does a better job of teaching 204 than 341. In 341 you have to run a lot of programs on your own computer at home, and he didn't seem willing to help us if we had problems. He covered way more material than other 341 courses-he taught how to program the 68HC11 in both C and assembly. Most profs just teach C which is easy because you've had 114. However, the assembly came in handy because I took 343 this summer, and in there you use assembly to program the Motorola 68000 processor. So, the first part of 343 was basically a review for me. I guess the main point is take him if you're a computer engineering major. You will have to work hard, but you will learn a lot in his courses. |

![]() | Some you missed: BAD: Clark's online classes! You won't learn anything at all. Mysoor. Big Jerk, monotone voice. He sounds like a fly when he lectures. He's a snobby know it all instructor that doesn't give any useful examples in his classes. GOOD: Oldak: Why the hate for Oldak? This guy is accessable during his office hours, he's just very strict on his rules. The most complete and organized lectures in controls in our department. Sacco. Lectures consist mostly of examples and applications. There isn't much deriving B.S. here. El-Sawah. This guy is really intimidating. So intimidating, he forces you not to be a dumbass in his class. Kelly. He's hilarious. Cheng: The most devoted professor in our department. Count on that. Kets: I heard his 405 class is really easy. Wish I took him. |
